John Hough and his wife Ann came to America, along with his son John (who referrred to himself as John Ye Younger) and his wife Hannah. The sailed on a 60 ton vessel, the "Friendship", from Liverpool, across the Mercy River from their home in Hough, on November 26, 1683.

They settled in Bucks County, Pennsylvania and acquired acreage there.
