Following his father's death, John Jr. continued to work the farm and helped raise children for the next
twelve years. He was surely a member of the Buckingham meeting of Quakers,
though not very active, the only reference to him is made during certain
proceedings against his eldest son John Hough III. Like his father, he could
not sign his name but made is own "mark".
John Hough, Jr. married Eleanor Sands. When he died, he left 50 acres to his
wife, Eleanor Sands Hough, with reversion to five of his children, William,
Daniel, Joseph, Richard, and Jane, with the residue (428) acres to his son,
John Hough, III.
